Research and Development

The medical team at California Neurosurgical Institute has embarked on a long-term commitment to advancing the field of neuroscience by establishing a dedicated Research Foundation. This foundation supports groundbreaking research in neuroscience, leveraging the unique resources and expertise available within the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding communities.
Previous projects have included the SpineTrack Outcomes Registry, a comprehensive patient outcomes tracking system funded by research grants in 2016. Under the leadership of Dr. Grace Mooney, Ph.D., the SpineTrack Outcomes Registry collected data regarding spine surgery outcomes at California Neurosurgical Institute. This data was critical in refining surgical techniques and improving patient outcomes.

Innovative Techniques and Advanced Technology

Our team of neurosurgeons is committed to integrating the latest technologies into their practice to achieve the most favorable outcomes for our patients. We specialize in a range of advanced techniques and innovations that set us apart from other neurosurgical centers, including the following:

Neuromonitoring

Our team uses real-time neuromonitoring during surgeries to enhance precision and safety, reducing the risk of nerve damage and ensuring optimal outcomes during complex procedures.

Neuromodulation and Neuro-Electrodes

California Neurosurgical Institute stays at the leading edge in the latest developments in neuromodulation techniques to treat neurological disorders. These advanced therapies, including Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and spinal cord stimulation, allow us to treat a variety of conditions by altering nerve activity through targeted electrical stimulation. This approach provides relief for patients with chronic pain, movement disorders, and other challenging conditions.

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

Our surgeons are experts in performing minimally invasive spine surgeries, which offer patients shorter recovery times, reduced pain, and fewer complications compared to traditional open surgery. This includes innovative procedures such as artificial disc replacement, microdiscectomies, and minimally invasive spinal fusions.

Stereotactic and Radiosurgery

We utilize advanced stereotactic neurosurgery and radiosurgery techniques for brain tumor removal and other complex cranial surgeries. These methods allow for highly accurate, targeted treatment, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue.

Promoting Community through Teamwork

California Neurosurgical Institute prides itself on being an independent medical practice with the best neurosurgeons in the area and providing comprehensive care that puts patients first.  In many instances when surgery is not needed or recommended, we work with local experts in their fields to create a comprehensive non-surgical treatment plan.  We only work with the best and most reputable practitioners in the area who foster the same patient first ethos that we embody and many of these practitioners have been recommended to us by previous patients. Some practitioners are independent practices like us and others are affiliated with larger institutions, but all have exemplified excellence in their respective fields.

Committed to Education With a Global Impact

California Neurosurgical Institute is committed to innovation and the education of the next generation of neurosurgeons. Our surgeons are active educators, training neurosurgeons worldwide through our fellowship programs. Over the past decade, we have sponsored medical students and Fellows from various countries, contributing to the global advancement of neurosurgical techniques and knowledge.

Our commitment to education extends beyond our practice as we continue to participate in academic research, conference presentations, and publications that push the boundaries of what is possible in neurosurgical care.

California Neurosurgical Institute remains dedicated to improving patient care through innovation, research, and education. By investing in the latest technology and continuing to advance the field of neurosurgery, we provide our patients with world-class care and access to life-changing treatments close to home. Our clinics are located in Valencia and Encino, where our patients gain access to top-tier neurological care, the most advanced treatments available worldwide, right in their local communities.
